PFP: Brokerage Days in a Mobilizing Project

PFP, together with 16 partners, submitted last October 17, 2016, the application of the project RailCapacity, under the Mobilizing Programmes launched by the National Innovation Agency.

The partners of the project, in addition to PFP, are AMBISIG, Amorim Cork Composites, EFACEC, EVOLEO Technologies, FEUP, Fireball, INEGI, ISEL, ISEP, ISQ, IST, IT, LNEC, Nomad Tech and the University of Minho, with the leadership of Mota-Engil.

Aiming increasing both the attractiveness and the capacity of the Railway Sector, PFP members have mobilised to present the RailCapacity Project – Research, Development & Demonstration of Advanced Management Solutions (Monitoring and Maintenance) for Rail (freight) Transport.

The project RailCapacity includes the following partial projects: Communications and Cyber Security; Energy Efficiency; Vehicle Monitoring; Infrastructure Monitoring; New Technologies; Data Mining and Analytics.

The implementation of this project, coordinated by PFP and led by Mota-Engil, will strengthen the connection between enterprises, entities from the National Scientific and Technological System and other stakeholders from the Portuguese railway system. The project will involve the implementation of collaborative R&D and Innovation activities, based on a programme inserted in the Portuguese Rail Cluster common strategic agenda, and will capacitate and contribute decisively to the internationalization of the Portuguese rail sector.

In addition to the RailCapacity project, the application process has enabled a broad-based strategy for the Cluster PFP. This strategy was materialized in collaborative projects involving several groups of members – in the areas of rolling stock, infrastructure and operation – enabling access to other types of projects in the short/medium term.
