The Portuguese Railway Cluster Platform participated, this Tuesday, in the launching of the tender for the acquisition of 117 new rolling stock units for CP Comboios de Portugal (Portuguese Railways).
The presentation, at Guifões CP Railway Workshop Park, was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos.
At stake are more than 800 million euros investments that, according to Pedro Nuno Santos, will have "repercussions in industry and in the Portuguese people".
The Minister of Infrastructures also said that this Railway Workshop Park in Guifões, Matosinhos" has "all the conditions to be a cluster of production, development, research, innovation and training in the railway area with a set of qualified, experienced workers, with great capacity for quality work and competitive labor and competitive companies. CCF – Railway Competence Center will also be here located.
"This tender is a driver for Portugal to become part of the club of train manufacturers in Europe," added Pedro Nuno Santos.
The tender will boost the national railroad, where Portuguese industries may occupy a central role, contributing to the success of the Portuguese Railway sector.
